DE Bryan Baird Visits Michigan
March 7, 2010 - Christopher Smith GoBlueWolverine.com

Bryan Baird is a name that may not be recognizable off the bat for most recruitniks ... but that soon may change.

“I’m fast off the line for a defensive end,” Baird told GoBlueWolverine. “I’ve got some speed and quickness for pass rushing. I can get to the quarterback and on running plays I can get to the ball. I’m about 6’4” or 6’5” and 225. I run a 4.7 forty.”

One of the schools that has taken note in Baird so far are the Wolverines, and they’ve hosted Baird on a number of occasions, including a few days ago at their second junior day of the year.

“When I went there, I had a great time. I met Coach Rod. It’s been my fourth visit up there, so I mean I’m getting to know all of them a lot. It’s getting more personal. I was with my recruiting coach, Tony Dews, and we watched the basketball game and just had a lot of fun.”

Each visit has provided something in depth for Baird, and this was no different, as he finds his admiration for the Maize and Blue growing.

“It’s just great football and it’s also a wonderful academic school. I love all the indoor facilities, it’s just ridiculous. I love that. Their strength coach, he’s just wonderful. He gave us a little talk and he seemed really cool. Everything about it, I’ve loved it.”

Though the interest is seemingly very mutual, the Wolverines have yet to extend an offer to the 2011 prospect.

“We haven’t talked much about that. Coach Dews said he was excited to start recruiting me, so we’ll see what happens.”

Baird will again be in town soon enough, as he plans to be in attendance for the Wolverines third junior day in March.

“They invited me up for Night of Champions, and I’m probably going to come back up for that or any spring practices and stuff like that. I believe I’ve got an invite to camp too, so I’ll probably come up there for a one day camp and show them what I’ve got.”

The Wolverines aren’t the only suitors that Baird is hearing from, but they definitely stand out amongst a crowd.

“I’m getting recruited by Purdue, Cincinnati, Indiana, West Virginia and Nebraska
